Tell them to save the animals and there like "YEAH"! Tell them to save the rainforest and there like "YEAH!" etc! . . . . . . . tell those same people they need to ride a bike to make it happen and listen to the crickets come out! Car culture is SO DEEP in our public DNA now that we're openly doomed. . . .

Bitter sweet moment. . .

It was the 1997 Mo State cyclocross Championships and a four man breakaway had got established early in the race with Tim Kakouris, John Mathews, me and Eric Martin. It was the last lap and the last descent to the finish line when a gap was created and this unsavory scene unfolded.
